COVID-19 Update 3/28/2020
Update to WSWSA Schedule Due to COVID-19

In response to the requirements of local and state health authorities we are continuing to suspend WSWSA operations through April.  This is consistent with other leagues and recreation field closures (closed through April or indefinitely).

So what does this mean for WSWSA?
  • Assuming we can resume operations in May we plan to reduce the three remaining seasons of play (Spring, Summer, and Fall) to eight week seasons. We will post final dates of play as we get closer to resuming operations.
  • Our Annual General Meeting is typically hosted in May.  This meeting will be delayed into June (date TBD).
For those of you who need to renew your player cards please note that the GSSL office is physically closed.  They are still working - just doing so remotely via phone and email.
The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic impact are unprecedented.  A lot of us are feeling the pain in one form or another. Please be safe and take the necessary steps to protect your health and that of your families.  If you have any questions please contact any of the board members.

WSWSA Player Card Change

WSWSA Player Card Change

A little over a week ago we learned that Cascadia Adult Soccer (CAS) is suspending operations and will no longer issue player cards as of March 1, 2020. At an emergency meeting on February 13 the WSWSA Board voted to obtain our league's player cards through the Greater Seattle Soccer League (GSSL).

  • Player cards are a vital part of our league since that is how we obtain the insurance that is required to rent the fields, and they provide the US Soccer affiliation that supports us hiring referees.

Your existing CAS player card will be honored until its expiration date, after which you will need to purchase your new card from GSSL (https://gssl.org).

There are several benefits to getting our cards from GSSL:

  • The cost of player cards is reduced, $25 for a GSSL player card instead of $35 for a CAS player card. Part of the reason the cost is lower is that the player card no longer includes the $5,000 of secondary injury insurance.
  • You can use the GSSL player card for tournaments. The GSSL player card is affiliated with US Club Soccer just like the CAS player card so you can use it for the same tournaments.
  • GSSL offers a no-cost one-game tryout pass for new players.
  • The GSSL player card is also good for GSSL’s coed and co-rec divisions, as well as for the affiliated walking soccer league.

The Washington State Women’s Soccer Association itself is NOT going away. We will still be registering teams and scheduling games. The WSWSA website (wswsa.org) will continue to be your source for league information.

If you have any questions, please contact any Board member.

Important Game Reminders

Important game reminders

Ref doesn't show, lights don't come on or go off early, game is forfeit:  email the Scheduler at   within 24 hours (otherwise we may not issue a credit). Both teams should email (or copy each other) so we know both were aware of the situation.

No lights or lights go out early: Many of the parks departments have phone numbers posted at the fields. Try and call - some have remote access and can get them on in minutes. We also have many of the field contact phone numbers listed on our website. Click the No Lights?? tab at the top of the screen on the home page.

No referee:
Go ahead and play the game.  Games with no referee will not be re-scheduled. In addition to notifying the scheduler so you get credit for the no-show, please email the game results to the League Recorder at   so she can post the scores on the website.

Can't field a team at the last minute??  Contact the other team immediately. Team managers have contact information under the Team Contacts tab in the left column of our home page. Also, immediately notify the Scheduler to see if she can cancel the field and the official assigned to the match. If you cannot find the opposing team's contact information, you can contact the Scheduler, Registrar, or any one of the Commissioners.

Starfire games: Games at Starfire will have 40 minute halves, unless you have the last game of the night.  If you have a game with 40 minute halves, take the field at kick-off time; don't wait for the referees while they get ready. Encourage the referee to only have a 2 minute half time and get back out onto the pitch.

Please contact the Treasurer for online payment instructions.

Teams Needing Players

If your team is looking for players, you have a couple of options. You can:

1) contact one of the player coordinators under the "Team/Player Information > I'm ready to play" tab above (or click here);

2) post a message on our Facebook page (click here).

We are always getting names of players looking for teams. And not all teams play every season but may still have some players who do want to play. Hope this helps because we really want everyone to have the opportunity to play!
